S-Bahn chaos in Munich: Large construction work at the Ostbahnhof Aange condensed!
On January 10, 2025, extensive construction work will start at the Ostbahnhof in Munich. These measures, which last until January 13, 2025, include ordnance probes in the western area of tracks 2 to 5. The aim of these explorations is to prepare for a new platform underpass, which are carried out as part of the commissioning of the electronic signal box (ESTW). Furthermore, cable and top management are carried out.
During the construction work there are considerable restrictions in S-Bahn traffic. There will be no S-Bahn between Hackerbrücke and Ostbahnhof as well as between Ostbahnhof and Giesing/Trudering. Only the S7 S7 will drive regularly. The S-Bahn line S1 will start and end at the main train station, but has no stop at the Hacker Bridge. The S-Bahn line S2 is no longer available between Hackerbrücke and Ostbahnhof and does not stop in Berg am Laim as well as at the Leuchtenbergring. In addition, the S-Bahn line S3 between Pasing and Giesing (U2) is discontinued. The S4 is only in operation between Geltendorf and Heimeranplatz (U5), while the S-Bahn line S5 only runs between Kreuzstraße and Giesing (U2). The S6 fails between Hackerbrücke and Trudering (U2), and the S-Bahn line S8 is set between Pasing and Ostbahnhof.
ordnance probes in the track area
Apart from the upcoming work at the Ostbahnhof, further ordnance probes are planned in the period from April 23 to April 26 and from May 14 to May 17, 2025. These focus on the east side of the S-Bahn track between the Shell petrol station and Lippmannstrasse. The purpose of these investigations is to uncover possible legacies from the Second World War as part of the renewal of the Sternbrücke railway overpass
The noise intensity during this exploratory work is classified as low. In order not to affect train traffic, the work is carried out exclusively during blocking breaks for rail operations. Affected residents can expect a separate notification of the right to external accommodation. Furthermore, one asks for understanding, since impairments and changes in the construction process cannot be completely excluded.
