Kaufbeuren school newspaper FOBOSSO Postboten” wins Die Raute”!
The excitement is great! In the heart of Kaufbeuren, the school newspaper “FOBOSSO Postboten” is already triumphing with its second issue and receiving the coveted “Die Raute” prize from the Hanns Seidel Foundation. A national success that comes like a bolt from the blue! Together with their teachers Mareike Schmidt and Julia Schaub-Forster, the talented students from the technical high school celebrate this memorable moment, which not only brings them fame but also prize money of €300, presented directly in Munich! A milestone for the young editorial team!
Award ceremony: An important step for the school press!
At the glittering awards ceremony in Munich, foundation chairman Markus Ferber took the floor and emphasized the importance of the school press: “The school press is important for the journalism of tomorrow, because democracy needs good journalists.” With these strong words, he underlined the commitment of the students present, who actively participate in social dialogue through their work.
The award-winning issue was dedicated to the explosive topic “Before graduating is after graduating.” A topic that is of great interest to all students at technical and vocational high schools! They covered a wide range of aspects - from effective learning methods to the insightful question of whether the “Pomodoro Method” really has anything to do with tomatoes. But that wasn't everything! A separate area for relaxing music and a healthy recipe for energy balls, prepared by the popular stuffed dragon FOBOSSO, round off the concept.
Innovative format impresses the jury
Even more excitement comes into play with the innovative format of the newspaper! Unlike conventional school newspapers, the “FOBOSSO Postman” is not offered in the classic magazine form. Instead, the entire issue can be found on an eye-catching poster that hangs in every classroom - so no one misses the content! QR codes also direct readers to additional articles and an engaging podcast on the homepage. Financial support came from a cake sale and a generous donation from the support association.
The future of the school newspaper is secured! Some of the editorial team remains active and is already planning the next issue. Students want to continue to be a significant voice in their school. The commitment is further enriched by the support of experienced alumni who provide the young journalists with new ideas. So the “FOBOSSO Postman” is well on the way to continuing to attract attention!
