Bavaria strengthens disaster protection: 50 new emergency vehicles handed over!

In an impressive act of support for the emergency services, Interior and Civil Protection Minister Joachim Herrmann handed over 50 new vehicles in Gunzenhausen, which were financed by the Free State of Bavaria. Numerous members of the Blue Light family were present at this ceremonial handover. "We do everything we can to optimally equip our emergency services. This of course also includes powerful emergency vehicles," emphasized Herrmann emphatically.

New vehicle for the BRK Ostallgäu district association

A special highlight was the handover of a personnel transport vehicle treatment (MTW) to the BRK Ostallgäu district association. Alexander Denzel, head of the volunteer department, and Tobias Hollmann, deputy district head of preparedness, accepted the vehicle. “The MTW is used in larger emergency services operations as well as major disaster events in disaster control,” explained Denzel. The rapid response group for treatment, consisting of a group leader and nine medical officers, will use the new vehicle to respond quickly and efficiently in emergencies. Hollmann was pleased with the modern technical and medical equipment of the new MTW.

Thanks for your volunteer work

Minister Herrmann took the opportunity to thank the volunteer forces. "The best financial provisions and equipment are of no use without you. It depends on all of you, because you not only sacrifice your free time, but often put your health or even your life at risk to help those around you in times of need," he said. Bavaria has an efficient emergency response and assistance system, but Herrmann emphasized that the state government continues to invest heavily in disaster control. However, he criticized the federal government for the repeated cuts in funding for civil protection, which affect all states. “We must work together on continuous improvements and further strengthen our preparedness for a wide range of disasters,” said Herrmann.
