U23 with ups and downs in the regional league Bavaria

The U23 of FC Augsburg has completed the first round of the regional league Bavaria in the disappointing twelfth place with 20 points. But the team has played a game less than many competitors. The season started promising with a spectacular 6-2 opening victory in Fürth, followed by a solid 0-0 against the highly traded FV Illertissen and a 2-1 away win against Türkgücü Munich. But then a roller coaster ride followed: After a bitter defeat in the city derby, the team was able to celebrate an impressive 7-1 win against the SpVgg Ansbach, but the Constance remained a big problem.

Injuries and challenges

The Fuggerstädter had to struggle with numerous injuries that the young team heavily burdened. The experienced players Hendrik Hofgärtner, Lukas Aigner, David Deger and Moritz Kaube kept falling out, which impaired the performance of the U23. Trainer Tobias Strobl emphasizes that despite the setbacks, the team has grown in his challenges. A memorable comeback against TSV Buchbach, in which the team won 4: 3 after a 2: 3 deficit and a red card, shows the unshakable team spirit. "I've never experienced such a game in my entire career," sums up Strobl.

Another damper came in the last game of the first half of the season when the U23 lost 2: 6 against 1. FC Schweinfurt. Despite the defeat, the team is optimistic about the second half of the season, which begins on Saturday, November 2, with a home game against the U23 of SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The goal is clear: show more consistency and further expand the 34 goals that represent the third best value of the league. Juan Cabrera, with eleven goals, is also in second place on the scorer list. The next games promise excitement, with many home appearances that could raise the mood in the team.
