Home hub starts: Discover the stories of your homeland!

An exciting new chapter for history lovers begins! The highly anticipated podcast series “Traces of Homeland” starts on December 6th and promises to take listeners on a captivating journey through the history of the Bavarian Lower Main and the Main-Spessart. Six episodes are planned, which are available on the website www.heimathub.de and published via all common podcast channels. In the first episode, the creative minds behind the project, including the city and monastery archives as well as the Spessart Archaeological Project, provide exciting insights into the creation and motivations of the local history hub.

The series is moderated by archaeologist Katrin Vill, who enriches each episode with her knowledge. In the coming episodes, various contributors will have their say: Heidi Kolb tells the moving story of the Schüßler family from Glattbach, while Lina Schröder presents her fascinating research on the Kahlgrund. Rudi Dill brings the dialect from Sinngrund and Obersinn to life and sheds light on the writer Leo Weißmantel. The history of the mowing cow also comes to life in a podcast, including elaborate digital visualizations and new insights into its function.

A project with vision

The home hub project is supported by the city of Aschaffenburg and received approval from the government of Lower Franconia in accordance with the “Guideline for the promotion of home projects with a focus on digitalization”. The application was submitted to the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland in November 2021. The background music comes from Max Koch and Stefan Frisch from Mömbris im Kahlgrund, who give the podcasts a special sound. Listeners are invited to leave their own traces on the home hub and to actively shape the history of their homeland – digitally and analogue!
