Three terrible fires in Bavaria: Police investigated arson!
In the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in Bavaria, the Ansbach criminal police have initiated investigations for arson. From August 20 to September 7, 2025, a total of three fires of wood stacks occurred on the open area. These incidents raise questions, especially since the police have references to intentional arson. The first fire occurred on August 20, 2025 at 1:40 a.m., when a wooden camp between Grönhart and a solar park burned completely and opened about 400 steric wood in flames. The second fire performed on September 4, 2025 at 01:35 when a larger wooden heap was completely destroyed next to a bike path between Trommetetsheim and Kattenhochstadt. The third and last fire was reported on September 7, 2025 at 2:25 a.m. Here, a tree stack near Markt Berolzheim burned completely.
The fire brigades on site reacted quickly and were able to quickly control the fires. Fortunately, there were no injuries, neither in humans nor in animals. The property damage amounts to around 14,000 euros, which increases the financial burden for the property owners concerned. The ANSBACH criminal police Commissioner has taken over the further investigation. The police are looking for witnesses and asks people who have made suspicious observations to report on 0911 2112 3333.
Earlier arson in the region
The investigations by the criminal police are not isolated. Previous fires, especially in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, throw another light on the problem of arson in the region. On October 18 and 20, 2024, there were two fires in the factory hall of a company, which particularly noticed due to their damage of over one million euros. The Ansbach criminal police were able to arrest a 23-year-old suspect who, after initial investigations, quickly became targeted by the officials. Both fires were due to intentional, serious arson, and special forces were necessary to control the fire. The extinguishing measures stretched to the night and required the use of around 250 firefighters and the technical relief organization.
The previous cases illustrate a growing problem in the field of arson, which has strengthened in Germany in accordance with the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in recent years. According to statistics, which evaluates how many cases of arson have been recorded since 1995, an increasing tendency was observed, especially in the years between 2013 and 2023. However, the number of unreported cases could be significantly higher, which restricts the chances of a quick solution to these delicate cases.
The current investigations and the call for testimony are therefore in a larger social context that requires the importance of robust fire and police work. The authorities rely on gaining further information through cooperation with the public and ensuring security in the region.
