Great support for Bavarian fire brigades: 250,000 € donation!
On April 2, 2025, it becomes known that the VR profit savings association Bavaria is handing over a generous donation of 250,000 euros to the Bavarian Fire Brigade Association (LFV). This support is aimed specifically at the Bavarian fire brigades, with a special focus on the children's and youth fire brigades. The donation is intended to help advance various projects that promote both the training and the care of the young fire brigade members.
The chairman of LFV Bayern, Johann Eitzenberger, is grateful for the commitment of the profit savings association. Among other things, the donation flows into a general donation to the youth fire brigade, which is used to support a wide range of initiatives. The planned measures also include support for the supervisors of the children's fire brigades through the "handout for the children's fire brigades in Bavaria".
projects for promoting the youth workers' work
A specific measure as part of the donation is the provision of 1,000 printed folders. These folders contain important pedagogical and legal foundations as well as creative ideas for the design of practice lessons with children to further professionalize youth work in the fire brigades.
Furthermore, a container for "Logistics Competitions" will be procured, which will be used on September 13, 2025 at the first Bavarian State Fire Brigade performance competition in Amberg. This initiative is part of a comprehensive program to strengthen competitiveness and teamwork within the Bavarian fire brigades.
Wider support for fire brigade and communities
In addition to the financial support of the VR profit savings association, the Free State of Bavaria offers an important basis for defensive fire protection and technical aid service through programs for fire brigade funding. Every city and community is responsible for eliminating impending fire or explosion hazards and providing technical help in the event of accidents. The financing of vehicles and equipment for fire protection is supported by state grants that come from the fire protection tax.
However, the funding is always carried out within the framework of the available budget and without legal entitlement. The corresponding guidelines and provisions determine the funding requirements and are monitored by local district fire councilors. Funding may only be requested for projects that have not yet been started to ensure compliance with the guidelines.
In the course of digitization, the switch from analog radio to digital BOS radio is also promoted. Digital radio devices for fire departments, emergency services and disaster protection vehicles are on the list of funding to optimize operational readiness and communication.
Overall, it can be seen that both private initiatives and through government funding, fire brigades in Bavaria are supported in order to continue to be a reliable contact point for fire protection and technical aid in critical locations in the future.
