EHC Königsbrunn starts strongly: is the first point cloon in Schweinfurt?

The new ice hockey season has started promising for the EHC Königsbrunn. Last Saturday, the Brunnenstädter secured a convincing 4-1 win in Amberg at the start. These first games of the season have already shown that the league will be tight and competitive. Six of eight games ended with just one goal difference, which indicates an exciting competitive atmosphere. Four of these games even had to be extended.

Now there are two away games for the EHC Königsbrunn: On Friday it will be against the “Mighty Dogs” of ERV Schweinfurt, followed by the encounter against the “mammoths” of the EA Schongau on Sunday. The first match ball will be thrown at 8 p.m. while the game starts at 5:30 p.m.

opponent analysis: The Mighty Dogs

The Mighty Dogs have prepared well for the new season. They were able to hold their key players, including 34-year-old Canadian Dylan Hood. Hood, who scored considerable 83 scorer points in 38 games in the last season, remains a central figure in the team. In addition, Tomas Cermak, a talented 23-year-old Czech, remains in the squad, who collected 69 scorer points in the previous season. The association received reinforcements from the 38-year-old Petr Pohl, who not only has a wealth of experience from the DEL, but also ran as a top performer for Primus Erding. In addition, Lukas Krumpe, a 22-year-old defender from the Oberliga Nord, was obliged to strengthen the defensive.

In the first game, the Mighty Dogs had to take a bitter defeat. Despite a 7: 3 lead after two thirds against Dingolfing, they lost the lead in the final section and finally lost 8: 7 in overtime. This setback motivated the team to achieve a better result against Königsbrunn. Trainer Bobby Linke estimates the strength of the Mighty Dogs:

"After the successful start in Amberg, we are hot for the next games. On Friday, an opponent awaits us who has intensified with experienced and young players. With this squad, Schweinfurt should say a serious word about the playoff places."

Outlook on the mammoths

The EA Schongau has massively rebuilt this year. Trainer Ken Latta was forced to form a powerful team from 11 departures and 16 newcomers. This also includes Grayden Gottschalk's obligations, a 26-year-old Canadian who previously played in the Cehl, and 22-year-old Sweden Anton Egle, who drew attention to the Weserstars Bremen. Schongau has reinforced, but it remains to be seen how well the new team plays together.

In the first game at the start of the season, Schongau scored a respectable 3: 3 draw against the Kempten Sharks and got a point, but did not end up in extra time. Coach Bobby Linke is aware of the challenges in the game against Schongau and remains careful:

"Schongau has lost many long -term and deserved players. It becomes exciting how constant the new young team can call up their potential. In both games we have to act very concentrated and find our playful solutions."

The EHC will fight for important points at the weekend to position themselves among the top 6 of the league. However, the team has to do without important players, including the injured Dominic Erdt as well as Philipp Sander and Julian Becher. The upcoming games promise to become decisive for the further course of the season. The level of the league seems particularly high this year, and every point counts.
