Details for performance
Tickets for the performance are available in the Amberg tourist information. Ticket bookings are possible by phone at (0 96 21) 10 12 33 and by email to ticket@amberg.de and in the web shop of the city theater. The staging is based on the book by Dürrenmatt published in 1950, the stories of which are considered classics of crime literature and raise existential questions.
In the work "The Richter and his Henker", which was first published in 1950, the main character, Commissar Bärlach from the Bernese police, must inform the murder of his best officer, Lieutenant Ulrich Schmied. Schmied had examined Gastmann, which leads to a complex confusion in which the boundaries between law and injustice blur. Bärlach, who suffers from a cancer, manipulates the events to finally hold Gastmann into account without convicting him directly, such as wikipedia
These topics of moral dilemma and justice are also of central importance in the theater performance, which takes the audience on an exciting journey through the abysses of the human psyche.
