Görlitz train station: A big step towards electrification!

On October 30, 2024, the Federal Railway Authority officially approved the plan approval decision for the electrification of the Dresden – Görlitz – D/PL border! This important construction project, which affects the city of Görlitz, is being driven forward by DB InfraGO AG, Southeast Regional Division. The initial construction work focuses on the DC partial electrification, which extends over several kilometers, including tracks 3 and 4 of Görlitz station.

The details are impressive: The work includes the installation of a 3 kV DC overhead line system, the construction of a new central platform and the adaptation of railway overpasses. The planning documents can be viewed on the Federal Railway Authority website from November 18, 2024 to December 2, 2024. This replaces the usual on-site announcement and offers everyone involved the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information.

Deadline for appeal and important information

The planning approval decision can be enforced immediately, which means that construction work can begin without delay! But there is also a deadline: lawsuits can be filed with the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig within one month of delivery of the decision. However, this action has no suspensory effect, allowing work to continue while legal action is considered.

The project sponsor has committed to keeping all commitments to public interests, and the objections of other parties involved have largely been rejected. This shows that the electrification of Görlitz train station is not just a technical project, but also a significant step towards a modern and environmentally friendly transport infrastructure in Germany!
