Ergonomic features such as chest and hip straps ensure a stable hold, while padded back and strap straps increase comfort while wearing.

Important feedback on the use of school bags shows that the upper edge of the bag should be at shoulder height to ensure healthy weight distribution. The additional weight should be stowed as close as possible to the back to avoid musculoskeletal symptoms. If you are overloaded, side pockets can lead to an unbalanced load distribution.

The manufacturers are apparently aware of their responsibility. Parents are advised to actively involve their children in the purchase process and try the school bags with and without a jacket. These recommendations are particularly important because the school bags often have to be used daily and can carry a high weight.

Furthermore, the traffic safety of children in Germany is very important. As part of the “Das Kleine Zebra” project, the Baden-Württemberg Interior Ministry started a creative competition in which children up to 13 years of age can take part.
