Super election year 2025: 13 mayoral elections in the Ortenaukreis are pending!

In 2025 there is an important electoral system in the Ortenaukreis, which includes the Bundestag election and the new elections in 13 municipalities. According to a report by Badische Zeitung , the Bundestag election will be organized on February 23, 2025. In this context, there are also several mayoral elections, with most of them taking place according to plan. The exception is two elections that are necessary due to the unscheduled departure of the incumbent mayor.

As early as January 26, 2025, the election will be made in Gengenbach. There a woman and four men compete to succeed Thorsten Erny, who was elected district administrator. In Willätt, Mayor Christian Huber's term ends this year, which also requires the implementation of an election. This will take place on February 23, with two candidates for the office: Tobias Polley and Markus Merzweiler.

Philipp Clever will run in Gengenbach, which requires a new mayor in Berghaupten. However, the exact election date for this has not yet been determined. In Haslach there is already an appointment for March 16, where incumbent Philipp Saar will start again.

in Hausach, Wolfgang Hermann, also incumbent, plans a new candidacy, whereby the election date still has to be determined. Richard Weith, the mayor of Oberharmersbach, is striving for a second term, and maybe there could be a runoff on October 12th. Other mayors, such as Nicolai Bischler from Steinach, have announced that he could be determined in September.

Reinhard Schmälzle from Seebach also announced his departure, with an expected election date on September 28th. Helga Wössner, the mayor of Mühlenbach, would like to announce her decision until January, while Pascal Weber from Ringsheim will report his decision on January 12th. The election dates in Oppenau and Kappelrodeck are also up for debate and are expected to be discussed in spring or September or October.
