Austria's ski jumpers get silver at World Cup - Triumph in Trondheim!

In Trondheim, the Austrian ski jumpers at the Nordic World Cup once again fought for the medals and secured the silver medal in the Team competition. As in 2019 and 2023, the quartet of Lisa Eder, Julia Mühlbacher, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Eva Pinkelnig, managed to win the silver rank. But in front of them were the superior Norwegians, who were able to triumph with 19.4 points, while the Germans landed significantly. This silver medal is the second for Austria in Trondheim, where bronze was previously won in the mixed competition.

strong performance and high demands

The team competition once again showed how important constancy and nerve strength are. Eder, for whom it is the first medal at a World Cup, and Mühlbacher had to rely on their skills and, especially at the crucial moment, have their best performance. "We fulfilled the medal program," summed up coach Bernhard Metzler and found that despite the disappointment with failed top performance, the silver rank is a great success. Mühlbacher commented self -critically that their jumps were expandable and the teammates reacted similarly.

Seifriedsberger, who had already celebrated her sixth precious metal since 2013, emphasized the importance of every medal, while Pinkelnig, who was happy about her fifth World Cup silver, joked humorously about her new nickname "Silver-Eva". The joy of team success was also clear, even if nothing was to be opposed to the gold medal of the Norwegians. "The Norwegians pushed us on it," said Eder, who had to recognize the performance of the hosts in envy, while the Austrian women's team has clearly set itself the goal of winning further medals in the upcoming decisions.
