Honor for heroism: Deißlingen citizens show solidarity!

As part of the New Year's reception in Deißlingen, committed citizens were honored for their extraordinary commitment. The awards took place in a celebratory atmosphere, in which contributions during the Corona period and in emergencies were particularly recognized. Among those honored was Carolin Bodmer, who was honored for her many years of commitment to the parish council, which she currently chairs. Bodmer campaigned for cohesion in the church community, especially during the Corona pandemic the Black Forest Messenger reports.

However, the topic of civic engagement goes beyond this honor. In another initiative, Baden-Württemberg and the state municipal associations have signed a sixth cooperation agreement to expand the state network for civic engagement. Social and Integration Minister Manne Lucha emphasized the crucial role of this commitment for social cohesion and democracy. The agreement is intended to further develop Baden-Württemberg's engagement strategy and strengthen the importance of locally developed projects, such as the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs reports.

Focus on cohesion and democracy

As part of this cooperation, the aim is to create a network that includes 126 cities, 35 districts and 208 municipalities. Minister Lucha called on other municipalities and districts to join these networks. Especially during the Corona pandemic, new networks and support were quickly created to effectively address social challenges. Dr. Peter Kurz, President of the City Council, and Roger Kehle, President of the Municipal Council, emphasized the need and importance of civic engagement in order to promote local structures and a vibrant democracy, which was supported in the statement by District Administrator Joachim Walter, President of the District Council.
