Art world mourns the loss of Helmuth Gsöllpointner - a legacy of creativity

Linz, Österreich - The death of Helmuth Gsöllpointner On September 30, 1933, the art world put in grief. The well-known object artist and former rector of the Linz University of Art died on June 3, 2025, such as Kleine Zeitung reported. From 1977 to 1981 Rectore Gsöllpointner the Kunstuni. During his time at the university, he worked not only as a teacher, but also as a curator for numerous international exhibitions. The University of Artistic and Industrial Design Linz honored Gsöllpointner on March 31, 2022 with honorary membership, which was awarded to him for his special services such as the further development of the Kunstuni. Rector Brigitte Hütter presented him with the award, while art historian Gabriele Spindler underlined the importance of his work in her laudation. In this special ceremony, musical accompaniment was also offered by Annika Petschnig, who studied at the Anton Bruckner private university.

In 2013, Gsöllpointner was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Kunstuni. A room in the university's library was named after him and contains a variable table designed by him. The academic legacy of the institution enriches its generous donation of around 500 books and others.

Gsöllpointner's influence on the art scene has also become visible through the exhibition “Stahlstadt” dedicated to his 90th birthday in the castle museum.
