Three creative winners at Peter Bruckner Design Award 2025!
On July 19, 2025, the presentation of the winning projects of the Peter Bruckner Design Award 2025 took place in the Aguntum Museum in East Tyrol. Organized by Innos GmbH, the event was aimed at guests from the fields of craft, design and regional economy and offered exciting lectures as well as the awarding of award winners. In addition to the presentation of the outstanding projects, the insights present received in current education topics from Elke Gruber from the University of Graz. Her lecture entitled "Continuing Education - which is close and brings further" addressed the need for a paradigm shift in the educational landscape and the importance of lifelong learning.
Another interesting contribution came from Tino Valentinitsch, who in his lecture "Teach Me, Tiger!" The creative dynamics of design as an interplay between intuition, discipline and curiosity described. The event was accompanied by Stefan Moritsch from New Design University St. Pölten, who praised Peter Bruckner as a role model. The specialist jury, consisting of Tino Valentinitsch, Katharina Bruckner, Leonhard Unterrainer and Paula van der Woude, had to evaluate over 75 submissions from different countries.

The award of three main prices of 2,000 euros each honored extraordinary designs:
- "24er kitchen" by Erik Eltner - this innovative project aims to restore normality in crisis situations. It is characterized by an expansion period of only 24 minutes and is mobile and reusable from 24 mm CNC milled screen printing plates.
- "The Peatland Rotunda" by Ana Ferretti Martarello and Lena Siebrecht - a pavilion that is made of reused waste and treats topics such as the re -moistening of blue grassland. The construction is based on prefabricated components and is inspired by traditional architecture.
- "Shifting Colors" by Esther van Schuylenbergh - a series -woven waffle fabric made of 100 % flax that experiment with patterns and color gradients. These double -sided plates can be used as acoustic room divisors or wall hangings.
The winning projects will be exhibited in the Aguntum Museum until September 7, 2025.
German sustainability prize architecture
parallel to the activities in East Tyrol, the awarding of the German Sustainability Award Architecture on November 29, 2024 in Düsseldorf. This prize is awarded for the twelfth time by the DGNB and the Foundation for German Sustainability Prize e.V. and recognizes construction projects that provide outstanding achievements in the areas of sustainability, innovation and architectural quality.
The finalists include the Collegium Academicum in Heidelberg, the integrative family center of the Deutsche Kinderschutzbund e.V. in Dresden and the extension of Werk II of Elobau in Leutkirch. The Collegium Academicum represents the largest self-managed residential project for trainees in Germany and was realized on the site of a former US military hospital. It comprises two renovated existing buildings and a new building in wood construction with a total of 46 residential units and a roof garden.
The integrative family center in Dresden is a conversion of an industrial area that deals with existing building fabric with respect and combines various social functions. The extension of the work II of Elobau is characterized by its wooden construction with shed roofs, which promotes natural lighting and offers flexible floor plans.
The juries for both competitions emphasize the importance of socially just transformation and the integration of sustainable principles into building and designing. The award ceremony of the German Sustainability Award is broadcast in the live stream, which gives the general public access to these important innovations in construction.
