Housing costumes until June 2025: Burgenland protects tenants from price increase!
Eisenstadt, Österreich - Great news for the tenants in Burgenland: The Burgenland residential costing cover will be extended until June 30, 2025! This announced Heinrich Dorner's residential building council in a press conference. According to Dorner, around 10,000 residential units benefit from this measure, which ensures that the current rental prices remain stable by the middle of next year. This decision is interpreted in response to the inactivity of the previous federal government and pursues the goal of taking financial pressure to the tenants. "We relieve the tenants by almost 34 million euros over the entire period," proudly propagated Dorner. In addition, agreements were made with the non -profit construction associations (GBV), which are intended to secure existing low interest rates for future loans in the long term in order to guarantee stable housing costs.
Details for implementation and financing
The living cost cover has been in force since April 2023 and was launched to maintain rental prices in 2022. To this end, the state of Burgenland provided ten million euros annually as interest grows, while the GBV agreed to freeze rents. This initiative also requires that the country waive the increase amounts of residential assistant loans by the end of 2024. A total of 7.6 million euros are planned for this. The Federal Government's housing package, which provides funds for homes, also fell the subject of the press conference. In 2024 to 2028 16.6 million euros were planned as a funding loan volume to further advance residential construction in Burgenland.
The reactions to the news were positive: OSG boss and GBV state group chairman Alfred Kollar underlined the social responsibility of the non-profit and emphasized that the measure of numerous households brings noticeable relief. This shows once again that even in difficult times, social aspects in housing policy must be very important.
