Chamber of Commerce President demands clarity: Burgenland needs an upswing!

In an urgent appeal, Burgenland's Chamber of Commerce President Andreas Wirth formulated the entrepreneurs' pressing claims to the new federal government. He warns of stagnating economic conditions in Austria and emphasizes that uncertainty and lack of planning security inhibit the will to invest. In the current issue of Burgenland's economy, Wirth expresses that companies urgently need clarity and demands increased focus on location policy because Austria's attractiveness has suffered significantly for investors. "The wage costs are increasing. If we do not act, investors hike abroad," explains Wirth. The steep climbs of labor costs - almost 50 percent since 2009 - have a massive burden on work, as well as the high tax level at work, which is one of the highest in Europe at 47 percent. "We urgently need to reduce the non-wage costs!", Wirth unequivocally demands, while new taxes, as proposed by the SPÖ, would only bring further mischief how "https://exxpress.at/politik/jetze-warnt-warnt-warwirtschef-vor-neuen-steinen/"> Exxpress.at

demand for working time reform and less bureaucracy

In his criticism of the current working time models, Wirth warns that a general reduction in working hours would not only endanger many orders, but could also put pressure on the financing of the welfare state. With a decline in the average working time to 29.2 hours a week since 2004, he sees the country's ability to maintain social prosperity. The need for a flexible and performance -oriented labor market policy is crucial for Wirth: "A reduction in working hours will endanger our welfare state," said Wirth. He also denounces the bureaucracy as a brake block for companies and demands a clearly structured set of rules so that entrepreneurs can concentrate on their core tasks again. "We need a shoulder to all people to find solutions together and to secure the financing basis of the welfare state," Wirth summarizes his conviction.

The challenges in front of which Austria's economy faces are obvious. "We have to act now and are not allowed to speculate on further taxes, but have to create incentives to improve the investment climate," Wirth concludes his appeal. While the political discussion on future tax reforms is ongoing, the Chamber of Commerce President sees urgent need for action to sustainably stabilize and improve the economic situation. At a time when the need for a strong economic basis is more important than ever, it remains to be seen whether the new government can take the right course.
