Schallenberg withdraws from government: a new course for Austria!

Österreich - In a surprising turn, Alexander Schallenberg, the interim Federal Chancellor and Foreign Minister, announced that he will no longer belong to the upcoming Austrian federal government. After almost six years in the government service, Schallenberg explains that the time is ripe for a change. "It was and is the greatest honor of my life to work for people in Austria," said the politician, who has thought about his decision since the beginning of the year. Already at the beginning of the week he informed ÖVP boss Christian Stocker about his decision, as the his promise not to work in a coalition with the freedom could have far -reaching consequences for the future government, especially with regard to the composition of the ministries. Schallenberg itself has not rejected the possibility of further cooperation in political, so that the path for new partnerships in the political landscape of Austria remains open.
