Salzburg remains calm: black and blue defies chaos in Vienna!

The political landscape in Austria is more turbulent than ever. While the blue-black coalition between the ÖVP and the FPÖ has failed in Vienna, this cooperation in Salzburg has been blooming for two years. The executive state party chairman of the SPÖ, Peter Eder, explains that the FPÖ in Salzburg is more than a "stirrup holder" for the ÖVP. He describes the freedom as a comfortable partner who does not bring any significant content and is not looking for a confrontation. This is not without an echo, since Greens boss Martina Berthold and Sepp Schellhorn from the Neos expect no effects of the failed federal project on Salzburg politics. According to the Schellhorn, the countries will act independently anyway.

FPÖ on the way to government participation

five and a half years after the scandal around the Ibiza video, the FPÖ is now about to return to the federal government. Freedomers have already gained trust in five federal states and could even provide the Chancellor in further elections. Her political history is particularly shaped by the cooperation with the ÖVP. In recent years, however, there have been numerous coalition breaks, which were mostly due to internal turbulence within the FPÖ. The last turquoise-blue government broke up after the scandalous appearance of Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache, and since then the political dynamics have changed noticeably, as Salzburg.ORF reported.

In Salzburg, Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) emphasizes that the failure of the federal negotiations has no effect on the state government. The collaboration is described as constructive and pragmatic, which the FPÖ also underlines. Club chairman Andreas Schöppl points out that Vienna and Salzburg represent completely different political situations. The confidence in the collaboration and strength of the FPÖ in the federal states is unbroken, which could pave the way for a possible comeback in the federal government. As Salzburg24.at again, the FPÖ could take part and possibly take the chancellor-a step that marks a turning point in Austrian politics dignity.
