Protest march in Lübeck: For equality and inclusion on December 14th!

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, a protest march takes place in Lübeck that campaigns for the rights of people with impairments. The occasion is the international day of people with disabilities. Various associations, including the advisory board for people with disabilities in the Ostholstein district, call for more participation and a reform of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) and the Disabled Equality Act (BGG). The march begins at 3:15 p.m. on the Klingenberg in Lübeck and leads through the city center back to the starting point. Around 150 participants are expected, which is why road users are asked to plan more time, such as the claims and goals

The organizers of the protest under the motto "Diversity - Together for Equality and Inclusion", according to Anja Osterdorff, the organizer of the "Social Elche" association, would like to draw attention to the urgent need to reform the BGG and AGG. In many areas of life, people with disabilities are still disadvantaged, be it access to education, healthcare or various leisure activities. The Federal Government has known itself in its coalition agreement on a barrier -free Germany, but a comprehensive revision of the existing laws is essential. The Report by hl-live supports this demand and emphasizes that the equal treatment of all people is decisive for the promotion of an inclusive society.

The protest is supported by various alliance partners, including the social association Germany, Budget assistance north and the initiative inclusion. These groups demand that the rights of people with disabilities in society are increasingly anchored. Human rights activist René Schaar will also take part in the demonstration to set a strong sign for the urgently required reforms and to ensure protection against discrimination.
