Austria's future: Wank demands clear international cooperation!
In the context of the third anniversary of the Russian attack war against Ukraine, the international community has had alarming developments. According to the AG, the US government increasingly turns to Russia and exerts pressure on Ukraine to maintain raw materials against military support. Lukas Wank, Managing Director of AG Global Responsibility, warns that this tactic shakes the foundations of international cooperation and has significant threats to stability in Europe. "Wars for resources are not new, but this paradigm shift could have fatal consequences for our continent," said Wank, who also asks the Austrian government to act immediately and to obtain a clear position on international cooperation.
The upcoming Austrian government is formed in a geopolitical phase, significant political twists could be imminent. Wank emphasizes that Austria has benefited from the economic advantages of international agreements and emphasizes the responsibility that goes hand in hand with a stable world order. In view of these challenges, there is an urgent need to pursue a policy of cohesion that focuses on human rights and sustainability. For the upcoming political new beginning, the next Foreign Minister is asked to strengthen Austria's neutral role and expand the humanitarian commitment.
delegation trips as a sign of solidarity
Another sign of international cooperation is set by the activities between Germany and Ukraine. The SKEW (municipalities in development cooperation) enables German municipalities to work out project ideas in partnerships with Ukraine. Even if there is a travel warning, delegation trips can be offered for support under certain conditions. This initiative should not only serve to strengthen friendship between the countries and to promote practical solutions, but also maintain social and political exchange in the current crisis situation.
However, the Federal Government has initiated a preliminary housekeeping for 2025, which means that new commitments for these initiation and delegation trips are currently not possible. Against the background of geopolitical developments and the need for effective international cooperation, however, it is expected that these programs will remain of central importance in order to maintain dialogue and support for Ukraine.
