New turquoise-red-pink government: Bablers and Neos set accents!
Wien, Österreich - in Vienna took place on Friday a decisive meeting of the party committees of the ÖVP and SPÖ, in which the new government structure was approved. Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler from the SPÖ will in future be responsible for important areas such as residential construction, culture and media. On the SPÖ side, 41-year-old Michaela Schmidt is also part of it, while Christoph Return from the Neos will move into the government as Minister of Education. The nomination of hotelier Sepp Schellhorn as State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry for Deregulation is also stipulated, as reported orf . This new turquoise-red-pink federal government is to be praised on Monday, subject to the consent of the NEOS, by Federal President Alexander van der Bellen.
Government distribution and resort occupations
According to the agreements, the coalition will have a total of 14 ministries and seven state secretariats, with SPÖ and ÖVP fill six departments each. The Neos receive two. In particular, the ÖVP will manage most of the key departments such as the inside, defense and agriculture. However, clarity has not yet been completely created about the specific agendas, since the exact casts on Friday and Sunday are to be coordinated in the party committees. In addition to these specified positions, various state secretariates are also planned to efficiently support the work of the government, whereupon werden"> indicates. The SPÖ will also take over the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health and other important areas such as justice and science.
The government coalition has also made it clear that important decisions will have to be made together in the future, an apprenticeship from the previous Turkish-green coalition, in which there were tensions about strategic political decisions. This agreement confirms the partner's obligation to coordinate and appear uniformly in advance in order to make government work more stable and to secure the coalition ability. While some discussions about the occupation of leading positions are underway within the SPÖ, the NEOS seem to be largely fixed. Beate Meinl-Reisinger in particular will probably take over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while Christoph Return as Minister of Education was confirmed.
