Fight for funds: Salzburg's communities are demanding financial perspectives!

Salzburg, Österreich - In Salzburg, childcare faces a serious financial crisis! Once the country received 100 million euros from the federal government for all -day care, but this support is now dried up. Currently only 33 million euros are available, as reported orf.at . Of the more than 9,000 children cared for in the entire state, around 3,300 are in the city of Salzburg. Mayor Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ) warns of the declines in the budget of 7.5 million euros: "This is not a permanent solution! If the federal government does not finally act, afternoon care will become more expensive." It is an alarming sign! While the municipalities invest a lot in the expansion of the offers, the financial burden is on the brink.

This situation is not just a local problem. The 2,093 cities and municipalities of the country are also fighting with considerable financial challenges. Community Association President Alfred Riedl made it clear that the communities need more money to cope with the rapid rapid expenses for childcare and health services. "Construction and personnel costs are increasing continuously, and we need sustainable financing," says Riedl and calls for a reform of property tax to ensure the income in the long term. These were already a topic in the past FAG negotiations, but there are no clear progress, reports Kommunal.at .

urgent need for action in childcare

An example of the tense situation offers childcare: 200 million euros per year flow through the federal 15a agreement, but that's not enough! The municipalities need a long -term financial perspective to meet the constantly growing demand. Riedl demands clear responsibilities for the preservation of schools and suggests that all personnel costs should be financed centrally. The pressure on the municipalities increases!
