Carinthia fights against child poverty: social security for all children!
In a significant step against child poverty, both the Austrian and the German government presented plans to the introduction of basic childcare. In Carinthia, the social officer Gaby Schaunig welcomed the project in the government program of the new federal government. She emphasized the importance of giving every child in Austria a fair chance of a healthy future. "Every single child approaches all of us," she added, explaining that the fight against child poverty was both humanly and economically decisive. According to the plans, the basic child protection is to be based on a 2-pillar strategy, which includes both financial and infrastructural measures to improve the living conditions of children, said 5min.at.
comprehensive measures to combat
The first pillar includes the expansion of benefits in kind and the creation of a child -friendly social infrastructure with free healthy meals and improved health care for children. The second pillar focuses on the optimization of existing transfer services. This initiative is viewed as a major progress towards a fairer society, with Carinthia being willing to bring in its experiences. "We can improve the immediate life situation of thousands of children in Austria," said Schaunig. In Germany, on the other hand, the federal government has taken the decision to establish basic child protection in order to simplify access to social achievements, as the Federal Government reported.
Federal Minister of Family Affairs Paus said that the basic child security will create a comprehensive men's part in order to meet all children, regardless of social origin. This new structure includes the kindergarten amount, which is automatically adapted to the price development, and the additional child, which is intended to support families with low incomes. Access to educational achievements is also simplified. "The best protection against poverty is and remains work," said Paus, who underlined that an incentive system is created that also promotes gainful employment in families. The draft law on basic child protection is now being dealt with in the parliamentary procedures, with the aim of the first withdrawals in 2025, as the information from the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs show.
