Violence and hate: Green politicians in the crosshairs of radical extremists!
The situation for queer people in Austria is becoming increasingly threatening, as the latest developments and the reaction of politicians: inside the Greens clearly show. According to the shocking raids in Styria that disclose aggressive and violent behavior of right-wing extremist groups, David Stögmüller, LGBTIQ+spokesman for the Greens, emphasizes that hate, homophobia and transemeness must not be ignored. The brutal murder of Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old trans man from the USA, triggered horror worldwide and shows how dangerous radical forces can also be in Austria. "Self -justice is a massive threat to human rights and the rule of law," explains Stögmüller, which requires an urgent response from the new Federal Government and in particular by Interior Minister Karner to counteract hatred, such as apaotot.
These worrying tendencies are not limited to Austria. In Germany, politicians experience: inside the Greens a wave of hatred and violence that is expressed in attacks and insults. Most recently, party leader Ricarda Lang was attacked by angry farmers in Magdeburg, while statistics show that green politicians are threatened more often than their colleagues from other parties. This aggressive mood is not only nourished through political criticism, but also through the defamation of the CDU, SPD and FDP, which brand the Greens' politics as populist and extremist. Even under these challenging circumstances, the quick reaction of CDU party leader Friedrich Merz shows that solidarity action across party borders is necessary, such as Focus
Danger from radicalization
In view of these developments, the Greens call for a consistent approach to hate crimes and a clear attitude of the government to protect the rights of living people. Agnes Prammer, spokeswoman for security and human rights, emphasizes the importance of withdrawing the ground to these extremist circles. "The measures against hate crime initiated by us must not be softened," she warns, calling for a strong common common joint against this aggressive rhetoric and violence. The awareness of the dangers that arise from a radicalized discourse must be sharpened to defend the fundamental values of our democracy.Details | |
