FSG Vienna: strong cohesion for respect and justice!

On Wednesday, May 29, 2025, the State Conference of the FSG Vienna took place under the motto "Creating respect, strengthening justice, living solidarity". In his opening speech, the chairman Christian Meidlinger emphasized the importance of the union cohesion and called for a consistent entry for the rights of employees: inside. The FSG Vienna feels strengthened by its election sequence of recent years and thanked the official: inside for their commitment.

particularly mentioned Meidlinger the successful projects of the Viennese employee: interior funding fund (Waff). The cooperation with Mayor Michael Ludwig and the social partnership in Vienna were praised by him and Barbara Novak, the state party secretary of the SPÖ Vienna. Novak emphasized the need to continue the social partnership with the new state government.

solidarity and social justice

A central theme of the conference was the solidarity that, according to Sandro Beer, the state manager of FSG Vienna, is of great importance for workers. Renate Anderl, President of the Federal Chamber of Labor, thanked the official: inside for her support during the AK election and demanded easier accessibility of citizenship. FSG federal chairman Beppo Muchitsch spoke about the social democratic handwriting in the federal government and its relevance for employees: inside.

In the tradition of social democratically oriented free unions, the FSG/ÖGB is committed to social justice and solidarity. These principles are pursued in the trade union work and in the political implementation and are aimed at dependent people, people in training, unemployed and pensioners: inside. Bedies of the FSG/ÖGB exist at various levels, from the company to the federal level, and the organization traditionally provides the strongest faction in the ÖGB, as the historical roots of the DGB show.

elections and confirmations

The Presidium was elected as part of the conference. The elected members are: Korinna Schumann, Richard Köhler, Yvonne Rychly, Christian Szalay, Susanne Schubert, Christian Ringseis, Carina Köpf, Martin Müllauer and Elisabeth Kubicek. Christian Meidlinger was confirmed in his function with an impressive consent of 97.3 %, while Sandro Beer was reordered as managing director.

The importance of unions also shows the history of the DGB, which has been fighting for social justice and participation since its foundation in 1949. From organizing workers in the 19th century to current challenges such as corona pandemic, the history of the unions is strongly associated with the fight for better working conditions and social rights. This underlines the importance of solidarity and cohesion within the union movement.

For the coming years, it remains crucial to maintain the demands for social justice and solidarity in order to permanently improve the living and working conditions of all employees: permanently. The use of the FSG for these principles will continue to play an important role in the Austrian union landscape in the future.
