EU wants to hold online platforms: new customs plan!

Rainer Treelik, chairman of the federal division trade in the Austria Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), described the practiced unfair competitive practices as alarming. According to information from SPIEGEL This also includes the gradual reform of the customs regulations, which is due to come into force in 2028. These structural changes aim to integrate platforms as key players in customs administration and to control the enormous parcel current more effectively. Another requested step would be the premature abolition of the duty -free limit of 150 euros in order to avoid undermining and protect the trade practices of European companies.

If platforms are held responsible, this could significantly improve the conditions among the European customs authorities, since the current control of thousands of small Chinese online shops is an enormous challenge. Trefelik calls for a comprehensive risk analysis and preventive measures to drastically reduce market access for unfair -operating providers.
