Shock at the Schottentor: Motorists forces tram for emergency braking!
A dramatic incident at the Schottentor caused a stir on Friday morning! Around 11 a.m., a driver carried out a risky maneuver that forced a tram of lines D, 1 and 71 to an emergency braking. These abrupt actions led to seven passengers in the tram and luckily only mild injuries. The Viennese professional rescue quickly hurried to the accident site to provide the injuries, such as kosmo.at reported.
The incident led to considerable disorders in public transport. The tram line D was interrupted for about 30 minutes and redirected between Schwarzenbergplatz and Stockets over the Franz-Josefs-Kai. Line 1 was also affected and only ran between Karlsplatz and Julius-Raab-Platz over the Stubenring. Line 71 was also restricted and drove exclusively between Kaiserebersdorf and Schwarzenbergplatz. Despite these detours, the regular operation of public transport was finally resumed. Current timetable information is still available at bsag.de
