Bischofshofen, Österreich - Bischofshofen. On December 3, 2024, the Tourism Department of the Polytechnic School (PTS) Bischofshofen set a creative sign in the city: The students presented Mayor Hansjörg Obinger lovingly homemade Christmas presents, which are distributed to volunteers of the community. Under the direction of teacher Lottermoser, special delicacies such as fruity Christmas jam and handmade arechler were created. The popular campaign not only asked for skill, but also teamwork and organizational talent of the students to prepare and pack everything perfectly.

fight against poverty with education

Education is a crucial means in the fight against poverty, as can be seen from a current report. Worldwide, over 64 million children of primary school age have no access to education, especially in African countries south of the Sahara, where more than 35 million of these children are affected. The Covid 19 pandemic has further tightened this crisis, so that around 200,000 children cannot acquire the basic reading skills until their 10th birthday every day. Education not only offers individual opportunities, but also strengthens the economic performance of a country and thus promotes overall growth.

In Austria, the Billa donation campaign is "a donation that makes you full" an impressive example of how society works for combating poverty. This initiative aims to provide people with collected donations in need with essential staple foods and hygiene products. More than 1.3 million people in Austria are affected by poverty, a challenge that requires more collective action than ever. Like the current reporting of meinbezirk.at and One.org , access to education is a key to combating extreme poverty and a fairer future for everyone.
