Sternsinger in Wismar: Children's rights in the focus of the Dreikönigschaft 2025!

Wismar, Deutschland - in Wismar, the star singers are on the road after the turn of the year to bless apartments, offices and shops. This tradition is carried out by the children of the Catholic parish of St. Laurentius, who are disguised as Heelige three kings (Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar).

On January 7, 2025, 13 disguised children visited the town hall in Wismar. Five-year-old Moritz wore the big star, while the 14-year-old Klara attached a sticker with the inscription 20*C+M+B+25 to the office door. The digits represent the year 2025, the letters stand for "Christus Mansionem Benedicat", which means something like "Christ bless this house".

The campaign was accompanied musically in the mayor's office. Songs like "Gloria - It is Star Singers Age" were sung, supported by Pastor Peter Schwientek on the guitar. Parish officer Ute Weng expressed the blessing for the employees in the town hall and the administration. Senator Michael Berkhahn and Senator Heike Bansemer put money in the donation box and distributed sweets as well as Wismar shopping chips.

The motto of the 67th Dreikönigssingen campaign 2025 is "raise your voice! Star singing for children's rights". The collected funds promoted projects for disadvantaged and needy children in various regions such as Africa, Latin America, Asia, Oceania and Eastern Europe. The campaign supports the strengthening of the rights of children worldwide and promotes the implementation of the United Nations Child Rights Convention, which has been in force for 35 years.

According to information from sternsinger.de , 250 million children, especially girls, do not go to school worldwide. 160 million children have to work, often under exploitial conditions. Project partners in regions such as Turkana, Kenya, are committed to the rights of children in the areas of health, nutrition and education.
