Star singer throughout Austria: Hope and help for Nepal!

Wien, Österreich - In an impressive sign of solidarity, around 85,000 star singers have been moving through the streets of Austria to January 27, 2024 to January 6, 2025. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner praised the tireless commitment of the young people at a reception for the "Heilige three kings" in the Rossauer barracks in Vienna. This annual custom of the Epiphany not only brings a Christmas mood, but is also the largest solidarity campaign in Austria and worldwide, as Tanner emphasized. Your thanks are aimed at the children and young people who move from house to house and collect for the weakest in society. As Kathpress reported this year, the suffering children and adolescents in Nepal are in focus, which grow under poverty, violence and exploitation.

A record year is imminent

With the motto "Doing good together", the star singers are not only conveyed in the inside, but also collect donations for charitable projects. The funds provided support around 500 aid projects in poverty regions worldwide. Last year, a record amount of 19.5 million euros was achieved, which exceeds the impressive sum of a total of 540 million euros since the start of the campaign in 1954, as the Vienna district sheet reports. The Epiphany campaign, the aid organization of the Catholic Jungschar, is committed to a better future of the disadvantaged children and adolescents in Nepal, who receive important resources such as protection, support and education through the donations.

The acceptance and recognition of the Sternsinger campaign is unprecedented. The special start of the campaign took place with visits to top -class personalities such as Cardinal Christoph Schönborn and Federal President Alexander van der Bellen. A highlight of this year was the New Year's service with Pope Francis, in which star singers also participated and thus underlined the global meaning and tradition of this engagement. All of this is not only a powerful message of goodwill, but also an urgent call to support people in need.
