SPÖ boss Babler: Austria urgently needs political change!

In the recent political discussions, SPÖ boss Andreas Babler calls for a comprehensive “cash break” to clearly determine the budget numbers. In an interview with OE24, Babler emphasized that the current budget problems, in which a deficit of up to 15 billion euros is expected, could not be solved by savings. Larger cuts in the areas of health, social affairs and education would be unavoidable if only expenses are used. Therefore, Bablers are committed to discussions with the government to develop a financial timetable. This happens against the background that Chancellor Karl Nehammer has so far been critical of a wealth tax, but BALLER demands that all sides have to jump over their shadows and find fair solutions to relieve the population.

political change and taxation of assets

In conversation with kontrast.at Babler expressed his conviction that the population is longing for change. As SPÖ boss, he is committed to ensuring that 98 percent of Austrians are relieved for tax purposes, while only the wealthiest 2 percent should make a fair contribution. With an adapted asset taxation, enormous means could be mobilized in order to strengthen the social systems, especially the health system. The imbalance in the distribution of assets is very important to him; One percent of the population has half of the national assets. The burden must be burdened to the rich to close the gap between the rich and enable and to enable a fairer distribution.

BABER also criticizes the current government, which, according to him, often press challenges, such as inflation and increasingly unequal access to economic resources. In addition, he is concerned about the slow reaction of the government to natural disasters and the lack of adoption of a climate protection law, which has not been successful in the past 1,000 days. The SPÖ boss describes his vision as an activating state that does not hesitate to intervene in the necessary areas in order to improve the quality of life of all Austrians: sustainably on the inside.
