Schwandorf is investing 300,000 euros in the music school - a success for culture!

The city of Schwandorf helps the music school strongly! In the coming year, almost 300,000 euros will flow into the cultural facility for personnel costs and an additional 17,500 euros for spatial needs. This is an increase of almost 60,000 euros compared to the previous year - a clear sign of the appreciation of musical education!

But what is behind this financial support? Cultural office manager Susanne Lehnfeld stated in the main committee that the salaries of the 18 teachers are now corresponding to the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD), which drives the personnel costs. At the same time, the Free State has drastically reduced the public grants, which also makes the situation more difficult. And that's not all: a partial parade of the music school to the new rooms at the train station brought additional costs because an initial equipment was necessary.

Another aspect that burdens finances is the planned intensification of cooperation with primary schools and daycare centers. This measure could reduce the income from the instrumental lessons at the music school. Despite these challenges, the main committee was united and approved the household without a vote against. Mayor Andreas Feller (CSU) described the music school as a "success story", while SPD parliamentary group leader Franz Schindler praised the "excellent work" of the facility. So Schwandorf relies in the musical future - and with full strength!
