The allegation was "infidelity in a particularly difficult case", which can result in a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years.

The headmistress' situation was reported to be unfortunate, but the fact that she deliberately accessed the cash register for years had its own tragedy. Their confession and the fact that it was not a criminal record before the crime led to a milder punishment: the court imposed a prison sentence of one year and eight months, which, however, was suspended for two years. This means that she does not have to go to prison at the moment as long as she behaves in law in the next two years.

A central aspect of this affair is why the misappropriated funds did not notice earlier. The four-eye principle also applies to the school accounts. This means that the financial documents should also have been checked by the deputy headmaster. It is indicated that the headmistress acted so autocratically that there was hardly any resistance to her decisions. The fraud only noticed when a school caterer asked about the whereabouts of his payments. The city then introduced measures to avoid future incidents: teachers now have to prove every booking of school funds, and the parents are obliged to bill the money for school dinner directly with the caterer.

The financial irregularities and the infidelity of the headmistress not only affected the city of Helsar, but the entire school community. Parents and students could also be damaged because the means that were actually intended for school needs or transports were abused.

In the result, there could be a civil procedure in which the city is trying to get the misappropriated 78,000 euros.
