New opera nest opens: imagination and adventure for young spectators!
Today, on December 7, 2024, the renowned opera director Bogdan Roščić opened the doors of the new children's opera in the artist house with the special play "says the whale to the tuna". This exciting premiere marks the starting signal for the "Nest"- the new State Opera for Young Spectators, which should make opera and dance performances more accessible to a younger audience. The performances for the 2024/2025 season are numerous: a total of 96 events await, including five new opera and ballet plants, and a Viennese premiere. The prices are fairly designed, with children's cards between 5 and 15 euros and adult cards between 10 and 37 euros, said OE24.
The magic of the new children's opera
The new venue in the Künstlerhaus, which now comprises 248 seats and an 85 m² stage after extensive renovation work, offers the ideal framework for the piece. "Says the whale to the tuna" is an order work by Thierry Tidrow, staged by Sara Osterag. The children from the age of 6 immerse themselves in a magical story in which the characters DU and I discover their affection for each other. While you playfully explore your relationship, the Situation becomes dramatic when a spaceship ends up and the captain Noe announces a deluge. Only musicians are saved - until the joke "says the whale to the tuna ..." Noe makes you laugh and you get the chance to come on board, as reported on nest.at.
This innovative opera performance is a mixture of humor, poetry and sound magic, which captivates both children and adults. Other exciting programs such as "Nestvals Götterdämung" and the premiere of the ballet "Peter and the Wolf" will be brought on stage this season. “Nest” thus sets a strong sign of the cultural education of young people and promotes enthusiasm for the world of opera and dance in a unique framework.
