Neuerdberg: Church starts digital streaming for church services!

Wien, Österreich - On February 5, 2025, an innovative streaming studio opened in the Vienna parish church of Neuerdberg, which is also known as the parish church of Don Bosco. This new "Raum3", a cooperation project between the Archdiocese of Vienna, the parish of Neuerdberg and the Salesians Don Boscos, enables the professional transfer of services. It is equipped with the latest technology, including government space, cameras and sound technology. This project aims to use the digital world as an important space of faith and offer young people and volunteers the opportunity to learn and further develop skills in the streaming area. Maximilian Cichra, a member of the project team, emphasized that many people in the church want to give a modern direction and that this should create a platform for joint learning, reports the Kathpress .

The importance of the project

The first service from "Raum3" will be broadcast live on ORF III on February 16 at 10 a.m. The number three in the name stands not only for faith, community and broadcast, but also symbolizes the cooperation between the cooperation partners and the Christian Trinity. P. Siegfried Kettner, Provincial of the Salesians, was positive about the synergistic development, which is promoted by this project. The Salesians Don Boscos, founded in 1859 by Johannes Bosco, traditionally campaign for the formation and development of young people, especially disadvantaged young people. This global movement is active in over 130 countries today and offers numerous programs for support and training.

As part of the project start, a Don Bosco was celebrated in the nearby Vienna Salesianum. With musical contributions from a newly founded choir, over 200 participants experienced a festive service. The connection of tradition and modern approach illustrates the ambitions of the Salesians to shape the future of their mission in the digital world, which was underlined at the opening ceremony.
