New kiosk ensures exchange in Hildburghausen!

A kiosk was opened in Hildburghausen to promote the exchange of objects. Daniel Petschar and a volunteer have implemented the initiative, with the wood being donated to the kiosk from the hardware store in Hildburghausen. Agrar-GmbH provides the property at the Land butcher shop free of charge. The project also received support from a local roofer who participated in the roof. The kiosk is open around the clock and is monitored by a video camera to prevent abuse.

In the kiosk, objects can be brought or taken without having to give something to it. The sale of submitted things is strictly prohibited. Toys and children's things are particularly in demand. If you want, you can also give games for game consoles, bicycles, chainsaws, flat screens as well as original packaged cupboards and tables. So Sindy Volkmar took cups to make birdhouses with their children, while Manuela Morgenstern brought toys for toddlers because their grandchildren grown out.

reconstruction of a Gib-and -heim-Box in the Blucher Park

In parallel to this kiosk, the reconstruction of a Gib-and-Gimm-Box is organized in the Blucher Park. This box, which was a popular place for the exchange of things and conversations among neighbors, was completely destroyed in November 2022 by arson. Thanks to a donation of 3,000 euros from the Sparbau Foundation, the reconstruction should be made possible.

The Gib-and-Gimm-Box was a walk-in construction made of wooden pallets with green roofs, which after the fire only left out charred wooden residues. The neighborhood was dismayed and determined to rebuild the box. Tülin Kabis-Staubach, the managing director of the planner shop, emphasizes the need for reconstruction, while Esther Okunick from the Sparbau Foundation explains that the Foundation is promoting projects in the field of education and culture, with a focus on good neighborhood.

The neighborhood and the volunteers are currently advising on the reconstruction as well as possible new design ideas. These include a box made of metal instead of wood and alternative uses such as a telephone booth for books or a clothing rail. Access to the new box should remain open and transparent, without surveillance or lockable elements. The reconstruction is planned for spring, and renovation work in the "green living room" is also planned. Children and adolescents in particular are looking forward to the reopening of the box.
