Music for seniors: 1,800 euros for new Veeh harps in Eichstätt!

Eichstätt, Deutschland - On January 9, 2025, the Music Department of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt presented a donation of a total of 1,800 euros to two retirement homes in Eichstätt. The funds were collected on December 12 during the Benefit Christmas concert on December 12, which took place in the university's auditorium and was filled with around 500 participants to the last place.

Jörg Edelmann, academic senior council and main organizer of the concert, each handed over 900 euros to Irene Stiegler , the head of the Caritas Seniorenheim St. Elisabeth, and on Sebastian Gabler , the head of the Heilig-Geist-Spital. The St. Elisabeth retirement home is planned to use the donations for the acquisition of a new bass veen harp. The Veeh harp is a string instrument that can be played without knowledge. There are already two Veeh harps in the retirement home.

Sebastian Gabler plans to use the donation for the musical design of events in the Heilig-Geist-Hospital. Jörg Edelmann was positive about the development of the Christmas concert. He emphasized that it was happy to bring music -loving people together and create an enriching atmosphere. The Veeh Harfe, which was introduced in courses in Rheinbrohl and Bad Hönningen in 2017, is becoming increasingly popular. These courses enable citizens to make music together with the residents.

The Veeh Harfe, developed by Hermann Veeh, was created to take into account a special need for musical participation. The instrument promotes musical education without high exercise, so that participants in the senior center can regularly make music together. Participants aged 25 to 96 are active in the groups. The respective courses offer a wide repertoire of music styles, including folk songs, classic pieces and gospel, whereby the instruments are made available if necessary.
