Münster honors 37 schools: Warendorf institutions awarded for ESD!
The Münster administrative district received an outstanding award when 37 schools and four networks were honored as part of the state program “School of the Future”. This special celebration recently took place in Münster and honored the committed institutions committed to education for sustainable development (ESD).
The award-winning institutions also include two notable representatives from the Warendorf district. The Mariengymnasium Warendorf was recognized for its innovative projects, including a special project in Uganda and various Erasmus+ projects. These initiatives show how education can be shaped not only locally, but also on a global level.
The BNE regional center Emshof in Telgte is another award winner in this category. Here, active involvement in sustainable agriculture demonstrates how ESD principles are put into practice. Such programs are important because they motivate students to engage with sustainable issues and actively learn how they can contribute to improving their environment.
There are now almost 600 schools throughout North Rhine-Westphalia that have been recognized as “Schools of the Future”, supplemented by 27 networks of this type. These numbers illustrate how broad the commitment is in the region and how many schools have made it their mission to promote sustainability and environmental awareness. The development of these schools shows a future-oriented approach to education that is becoming increasingly important.
The awards not only recognize the schools' hard work, but also send a signal that education for sustainable development should play an essential role in the classroom.
