Leinzell fights with financial hole: property tax and trade tax under pressure!
Leinzell.A financial disaster is going on! Mayor Marc Schäffler is faced with dramatic budget planning. The causes? Uncontrollable additional costs and the loss of income tear a huge hole in the coffers of the community. The situation is so tense that the determination of the property tax rates for the local council becomes a real balancing act. On the one hand, the sources of income must be exhausted, on the other hand you don't want to burden the citizens with exaggerated tax burdens.
On Tuesday, the mayor presented the new calculation of property tax to the local council, which is said to be “up -to -date”. This means that while some households have to pay more, others are relieved. But the overall income should not change significantly. After intensive discussions, seven members voted for a rate of 520 percent for property tax B, while five pleaded for a milder solution of 495 percent.
Fewer income from trade tax
The situation further exacerbates: the trade tax revenue in Leinzell, already low, will be less than expected in 2025 by 40,000 euros. In addition, the income from municipal financial equalization drops drastically. The Ostalbkreis has no choice but to ask the cities and municipalities with increased district levies to the cash register. For Leinzell, this means that the result budget in 2025 is now in the red for around 400,000 euros instead of a planned deficit of 250,000 euros.
The ongoing projects cannot be stopped, which causes the mayor to have discussions with neighboring communities. The aim is to convert the Leinzeller school center into a association school. This could distribute the annual loss of 600,000 euros caused by school operations. After all, many children and young people from the neighboring communities visit this facility.
