District music school southern Weinstrasse: fewer grants, more music!
Südliche Weinstraße, Deutschland - The district Music school in the Southern Weinstrasse district shines with positive news! The demand for musical education is high, and that means that fewer grants have to flow!
In the last meeting of the responsible committee, district music director Adrian Rinck reported that the grant requirement will drop to around 590,000 euros in the coming year. For comparison: this year it was around 715,000 euros. The decline is mainly due to the so-called Herrenberg judgment, which forces the district to determine 19 fee forces. These contracts were transferred to the public service on September 1st, which noticeably reduced the financial burdens.
musical diversity and commitment
District Administrator Dietmar Seefeldt from the CDU informed that the state share will be less than six percent at the costs of the district music school this year. The district bears more than 55 percent of the costs itself, while the fees for music lessons cover around 40 percent of the total costs. Particularly noteworthy: Around a quarter of families benefit from discounts that are intended for siblings or recipients of citizens' money. Seefeldt and Rinck emphasized that the teaching costs and rental fees for instruments should no longer increase.
Currently, the district music school has an impressive 1,091 pupils who are taught by 44 teachers. The offer ranges from accordion to tuba to the Veeh harp. In addition, the course participants can participate in numerous ensembles without additional costs, including orchestras, flute and guitar ensembles as well as a big band and a district youth orchestra. The district council has also decided that the deficit of the district music school no longer has to be covered, which enables the school to finance itself in the future like other music schools.
