KPÖ/Links calls for voting rights for everyone and fights against high rental prices
Wien, Österreich - The list KPÖ/LINK has presented its election program for the upcoming municipal elections on April 27th. According to information from the Kleine Zeitung , the party competes in all 17 constituencies. The necessary signatures were successfully collected in all constituencies. In particular, the former FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache and his team HC also mastered this challenge.
The top candidate Barbara Urbanic critically commented on the high energy prices in Vienna and the record profits of Vienna Energie. She called for basic energy to reduce the financial burden for the Viennese. Urbanic emphasized that her list wanted to become a "annoying social opposition" in the town hall to stand up for the needs of citizens.
voting right for third -country nationals
A central concern of the KPÖ/Link City are born. At this point, the context of municipal voting law in Europe becomes clear, as described in the Federal Center for Political Education . Ten EU countries and thus 15 out of 28 member states allow certain third-country nationals to participate in local elections.
The legal framework conditions vary greatly, whereby some Member States do not grant the third -country nationals without exception. In Austria there is currently no legal right to vote for third -country nationals, which was critically noted by Angelika Adensamer, a candidate who has been critically noted.
living and health policy
Another criticism of the list concerns the "explosion of rental prices" in Vienna. The KPÖ/left requires a large -scale resumption of the construction of city's own apartments. In addition, a “living picker” is proposed to counteract so-called horror houses. Landlords should be obliged to demonstrate the habitability of their houses every three years to secure the quality of life of the tenants.
In the health sector, the party calls for higher wages and a reduction in working hours to counteract the shortage of skilled workers and to increase the attractiveness of the health sector.
The upcoming elections are therefore not only a political challenge, but also a platform for important social issues that are important to many citizens. The KPÖ/left seems determined to move into the election campaign with a clear program that puts social justice and participation in the foreground for everyone.
