Kitas in Rhineland-Palatinate: Alarming specialist quota continues!

Stand: 04.12.2024 10:48 a.m.

in Rhineland-Palatinate there is an alarming trend in the daycare centers: more and more career changers without pedagogical training take care of the little ones! A current study by the Bertelsmann Foundation shows that there is only a high specialist quota in every third daycare team. This means that less than 30 percent of the teams have more than 80 percent trained specialists. A dramatic decline, because in 2017 this value was still almost 41 percent!

Kathrin Bock-Famulla from the Bertelsmann Foundation warns: "The specialist rate must not decrease permanently!" But that is exactly what happens in Rhineland-Palatinate. In order to combat acute lack of space and personnel, employees are increasingly hired who do not have the necessary qualifications. This not only leads to a higher burden for the already trained specialists, but also to an increased risk for the children who are looked after in groups in which the care keys are far above the scientific recommendations.

daycare association condemned development

The association daycare specialist Rhineland-Palatinate raises the alarm: "The child's right to education and adequate care is endangered!" The consequences of this development are already visible: school dropout rates are increasing, and the results of the educational study PISA show worrying trends. The children suffer from development deficits and abnormalities that cannot be ignored. The situation in the daycare centers is serious and requires immediate measures!
