Hollstadt-Wollbach: Our primary school becomes a biosphere school!
The Hollstadt-Wollbach primary school has taken a remarkable step towards a greener future by receiving the coveted award "Biosphere School"! At a solemn ceremony, representatives of the UNESCO biosphere reserve Rhön presented the award to the visibly proud Rector Sabina Urban. "Together we showed how education and environmental protection can go hand in hand," she cheered, emphasizing the importance of this award for the entire school community.
In the presence of school office director Inga Palma, members of the control group "Fairtrade", the parents' advisory board and all 186 students, Urban described the day as "milestone". In recent years, the pupils and teachers have worked intensively on projects to raise awareness of biodiversity and the protection of natural resources. From organic mueslia to its own jam productions-the school has emerged in the areas of energy, nutrition and waste prevention. "We learned a lot about ecological relationships," said Urban, asking everyone to continue to develop creative ideas for environmental protection.
Partnership for the environment
Julia Rösch and Michael Dohrmann from the Rhön biosphere reserve are enthusiastic about the new partnership and the school's commitment. They recalled that the schools in Hollstadt and Wollbach showed special achievements in the areas of energy efficiency and nature conservation. With projects such as a photovoltaic system on the guilt roof and the sponsorship for a fallow land with a wild bee project, you have fulfilled the criteria for certification as a "biosphere school". "Do not let us go in our efforts for environmental protection!", Rösch and Dohrmann urged.
The mayor of Wollbach, Thomas Bruckmüller, joined the congratulations and emphasized how important it is that children are sensitized from an early age to environmental protection and sustainability. The students musically framed the celebration with moving songs and poems that underlined the importance of nature. "If we didn't have nature, it would be great," emphasized the young Magdalena Wicht in her poem. With loud drums, the team of teachers hammered the environmental idea into the hearts of enthusiastic listeners - an impressive day for school and the environment!
