Flood aid: Select immediate help for families before Christmas!
In Lower Austria, the traces of chaos are only slowly removed after the devastating floods in September. The disaster damage, which affected 20,000 buildings in 425 municipalities, is still noticeable. Many affected people currently live in replacement apartments, even if they were partially paid for aid payments. The governor of Stephan Pernkopf (ÖVP) informed that 16,000 families and companies have already received financial support. There is special urgency for 400 hardship cases, of which 90 are received before Christmas, so noe.orf.at.
Urgent protective measures
In order to better counteract future flood damage, the state of Lower Austria has launched the immediate implementation of 70 flood protection projects. Thanks to a supplementary budget of 23 million euros, necessary measures that had previously been planned for the coming years are now to be realized faster. Especially in the Tullnerfeld, where dams have to be renovated for 27 years, the flood protection along the Perschling should be prioritized, such as noe.orf.at reported.
The expansion of the ISTA campus in Klosterneuburg is also promoted. The governor announced that the construction of new laboratory buildings should double the number of employees working there. By 2034, a total of nine other buildings are to be built that expand the research and courses and make the campus an international attraction for scientists. The campus, which already employs over 1,000 people from around 80 countries, has one of the highest ERC Grant success rates in Europe. These developments show the clear will to invest in education and research despite adverse circumstances, such as today.at reported.
