Hamburg's port in the upswing: Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd start new alliance!

Hamburg, Deutschland - Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have signed a pioneering agreement on the formation of the "Gemini Cooperation", which will come into force in February 2025. This long -term cooperation aims to design a flexible and reliable network for shipping that should significantly increase the quality of the services. Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd, emphasized: "By working with Maersk, we will further increase our quality for customers and at the same time realize efficiency gains in our processes." A total of around 290 ships with a capacity of 3.4 million container units (TEU) are available for the cooperation, whereby Maersk will use 60 % and Hapag-Lloyd 40 % of it.

Allianz will not only improve the quality of service, but also offer faster transit times between the important port connections. Both companies have set themselves ambitious goals and strive for an appointment reliability of over 90 %.
