Gotha proposes record budget in 2025 - millions of education and culture!

In a pioneering session, the Gotha city council decided on December 13, 2024, and the figures speak volumes for 2025: the city will invest in a record volume with a total of 127 million euros. The funds are distributed over 100 million euros in the administrative budget and impressive 26 million euros in the asset budget. The focus is not only on significant construction work such as the urgently needed renovation of the train station and the kindergarten sunflower, but also on the support of institutions and clubs, for example the Schloss Friedenstein, which receives 2.5 million euros. Another highlight is the 14 million euros for street maintenance and 26 million euros, which should benefit the smallest citizens for the best possible early childhood education, such as Gotha Aktuell reported.

growing budgets in Germany

At the same time, a remarkable increase in household figures is observed in Germany. In 2023 there were already over 41.3 million households - the highest level since reunification. This development is mainly due to two factors: the growing population and the increasing small unit of households. The number of one -person households has increased greatly and rose from 11.4 million in 1991 to over 17 million in 2023. This shows that every fifth German lives alone, while most people live alone between 55 and 64 years old. These statistical data were published in a report by Statista

The available income in German households has increased in recent years, although the savings rate in 2022 was 11.1 percent, which reflects the financial situation of households. A look at consumption expenditure shows that most of the budget flows in the areas of living and energy flows, which makes up almost 36 percent of the expenses. These changes and trends stand in stark contrast to the growing budgets of cities for infrastructure and culture, and they illustrate the dynamic developments in the German budget landscape.
