Geberit celebrates 30 years of apprenticeship training: focus on career opportunities!

Geberit in Pottenbrunn celebrated a remarkable anniversary on September 12, 2025: 30 years of apprenticeship training. The training offer has changed significantly since 1995. While there were only two apprenticeships to choose from, eleven different training paths are offered today. Since then, 141 trainees have completed their apprenticeship at the company, which acts as a European market leader in the sanitary industry and has its headquarters in Switzerland. The product range ranges from ceramics for toilets to bathroom furniture and is known worldwide.

As part of the celebrations, a panel discussion took place, which was occupied by state heads and industry representatives. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasized the high priority of teaching and the excellent career opportunities. Wolfgang Ecker, President of the Chamber of Commerce Lower Austria, described the 30-year apprenticeship training at Geberit as a model model. Angela Fischer, Vice President of the Lower Austria Chamber of Low, emphasized the equivalence of teaching and the possibilities of career development. Geberit managing director Helmut Schwarzl made it clear that 45 % of managers and over 60 % of employees in the production area enjoyed training at Geberit.

The training center and the future

Around 420 employees are currently employed at the Pottenbrunn location. Geberit trains young people in various apprenticeships and is actively looking for new talents for apprenticeships. This is done in an extended training center that could be visited after the ceremony. The apprentices also presented a social project to support a school project in Cambodia, which illustrates the company's commitment beyond vocational training.

The importance of operational training is emphasized not only at Geberit, but also throughout Germany. The Federal Ministry of Economics emphasizes that training regulations determine nationwide standards for training content, time mediation and exams and the state recognition of the degrees is an important seal of quality for employers. A modernization process of the training regulations is crucial for the economy in order to meet the current challenges such as digital and ecological transformation.

Geberit keeps step with these requirements and offers training in Pottenbrunn that not only teaches specialist knowledge, but also focuses on elements such as environmental protection, digitization and sustainability. The apprenticeship at Geberit is a solid basis for many young people who want to make a career in today's working world. More and more trained specialists are being needed, especially in the MINT professions, the demand of which increases rapidly due to progressive digitization.

Overall, with his 30-year apprenticeship training, Geberit demonstrates not only the commitment in the formation of young talents, but also the willingness to face the challenges of the modern working world and at the same time to take on social responsibility.
