Chip cards for students: VSN announces further delays!
Northeim, Deutschland - The changeover of student-collecting time cards (SSZK) to modern chip cards in the transport association South-Lower Saxony causes excitement! Originally planned for the school year 2024/2025, the new chip cards should replace the previous paper ID for pupils in price levels C, GÖ and PS 1. Students from price level 2 who have an SSZK Germany ticket should also be enjoyed at the beginning of the school year.
But now the shocking news: The Transport Association of South Lower Saxony has announced that the chip cards cannot be provided in time. Instead, all entitled to claim received a replacement certificate, which was initially valid until 02.10.2024. Now this period was extended by October 31, 2024 due to the continued delays. And that's not all! Technical problems mean that the chip card edition drag on again, and the students have to be patient by the end of the year.
Current developments and solutions
In the coming week 45, a new round of updated replacement certificates will be issued, which are valid until December 31, 2024. The transport association calms the students: "Nobody has to worry not to be taken away if they can submit the replacement certificate when they start a journey." In order to offer the pupils a driving authority, the possibility is also offered to obtain the right to travel via the timetable app.
